Melanie Adele Martinez is an American singer born in Queens, New York, on April 28, 1995. She was raised in Baldwin, New York after her family moved there later.
A self-taught artist, Martinez began writing poetry when she was in kindergarten. Since then, poetry became her venue to express her emotions, allowing her to connect with the world around her.
Her love for art led her to delve into music, realizing the possibilities to show her creativity while expressing herself.
