Exploring the Unbound Depictions of the Female Body in Art by Jenny Saville

Photographer: Egon Schiele

With Jenny Saville’s embrace of Neo-expressionist and contemporary art into the style of her unbound depictions of nude women, she has eventually crafted a record-breaking career.

In 2018, the artist sold a painting in an auction at Sotheby’s London for nearly 11 million pounds. The artist has become well-known among many for her unrestricted view of the female body in art.

Her large canvases with vivid colors show over-spilling flesh, magnified breasts, pregnant bellies, and nudity. Unlike past forms of art during the Renaissance, contemporary art doesn’t attempt to create perfection. Contemporary art uses imperfections to forge new aesthetics.
